About the Team
Michelle Grace Danahy
Certified Advanced Feline Behavior Specialist
Michelle is based in New York City with years of both professional and personal experience working with cats. She holds a certification in Feline Training and Behavior and Advanced Feline Training from the Animal Behavior Institute. Both certifications require extensive hours of field work in a shelter and classes in feline training, behavior, enrichment, health, nutrition, and animal minds and emotions.
Michelle is a member of the Pet Professional Guild and Team Leader for their Behavior Team of New York City, where she connects vets, fear-free trainers, and pet sitters in NYC.
She’s worked with cats of all ages— from neonatal kittens to seniors—at Best Friends Life Saving Center and NYC Animal Care Centers, and regularly receives referrals from veterinarians across the city. She is also certified in Trap-Neuter-Return(TNR) and is a supporting member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants.
Edgar Danahy
Student / Teenage boy with an "I love cats" pin on his school backpack. Edgar brings more than just a brain that soaks up information like a sponge; he also brings his incredible, gentle, genuine heart to the team!
Edgar is a curious character. At age 10, he read “Tiny but Mighty” by Hannah Shaw, thus beginning his deep dive into everything cats. He inspired Michelle (his mom) to get officially certified through ABI. Together, they learned as much as they could about cat behavior, but he couldn’t get the certification because he hadn’t graduated from high school yet.
Michelle and Edgar studied, participated in class discussions, and read all the assigned books (plus a few extras) together. Once Michelle started seeing clients professionally, she continued to discuss ideas and cases with Edgar. On occasions when it was possible (with his schoolwork being the first priority), he also joined Michelle on Zoom calls and in person several times for follow-ups with clients who were open to having a teenager come along.
But Edgar serves as more than just a sounding board; he also proofreads recap emails and programs the spreadsheets.
Though he isn’t paid nor has a title like “intern,” it would be wrong not to include him as a team member, given his valuable input.
